Objectives of Management

  • Conservation of a mosaic of Ecosystems with the a predominance of tropical rainforests   in the Western Ghats in its pristine condition for all times to come.
  • Providing a secure habitat for a viable population of LTM.
  • Conservation of RET  species and endemics of Western Ghats.
  • To protect and preserve the watershed of two major rivers.
  • To study the long term successional and evolutionary processes in the rain forest ecosystem.
  • To study the plant -animal interaction in the rain forests.
  • To study plants in relation to multiple uses for humanity.
  •  To develop as centre of excellence for studying reserve forest eco systems.
  • To develop a viable, responsible and meaningful education oriented program to cater to the need of information dissemination.
  • To cater to the alternative livelihood needs of resident tribal population in the buffer area of the park.

Perhaps it was all worth it. Some human being walking through it sometimes, passing an inner revolution, shall ask the question : " Oh Mother, am I thy flesh and blood, feel and fever; shall I be thine and would would you be mine ?" That Silent question will be responded to in Silence; in the Silence by the reverential bowing of human will and the trailing branches of trees in Silent Valley.
